mesh

a mesh made from
1 - a lattice of micro filaments held together with micro actuators which can push the filaments in either direction. Each actuator should have a control mechanism and a feedback system. perhaps some sort of electric motor.
2 - a thin and very flexible synthetic outer membrane.
two such systems would be linked. when one is deformed by an object pushing on it, the other would deform in the same shape.

Digital Drawing Tablet on real Paper

The machine looks like a tablet, there are three main components:
- a touch screen
- a printing system
- a paper feed

The screen is transparent, a user makes a drawing or writes text in the same way traditional touch screens function.

The software might ressemble Photoshop and MS word combined.

The inking and printing system ressembles an ink press, colours are applied on the reverse of a metal plate and are then pressed onto paper to create an image.

The inking system on the back accumulates the corresponding ink to the reverse of the screen.

When the user is done, the user presses a button on the side and the screen content is transfered by pressure to the paper inside. This empties the contents of the inking system and clears the screen.

The original and digital artwork now on paper is ejected.

This system combines the advantages of digital tools while keeping the feel of the traditional "you only get one try" of real paper.
